Birmingham Centre for Arts Therapies UK (BCAT UK) is a mental health charity that offers three primary services: Arts Therapies, Workplace Wellbeing, and Community Arts in Health. Their mission is to provide accessible support throughout the UK, both online and in person, to anyone in need.
The organisation delivers affordable and accessible therapy through Art, Music, Drama, Play, Dance, and Talking therapies to individuals requiring such assistance. They also supply therapists to schools for a day and work within various communities across the country to host therapeutic community sessions. Additionally, the organisation conducts wellbeing sessions for businesses.
They have recently improved their data management by implementing HubSpot but are looking to make more efficient use of their data for ongoing internal reporting. Currently data is stored in various formats such as Excel and PDF, making it difficult to compile and analyse quickly for grants and reporting.
What do we need from a volunteer?
BCAT UK seeks a volunteer to create a spreadsheet enabling them to analyse data for funding applications and reporting. The organisation tracks 30-60 therapy clients monthly, with 6-8 attendees per session, and holds around 200 community sessions each month.
The volunteer will:
- create an Excel sheet that will allow for data entry to be used for analysis
- create an Excel dashboard that links to the data with easy-to-understand visualisations showing key statistics as described by BCAT UK. This may include:
- attendance trends by demographic data (age, ethnicity, gender)
- attendance trends by location of service
- provide user guidance and training on how to use and maintain the dashboard
- suggest methods for ongoing efficient data collection, reporting and data storage
The ideal volunteer:
- Has experience in data analysis in Excel
- Can understand and identify data collection gaps
- Can provide training and guidance on consistent data collection and usage of the spreadsheet created
- Be based in the United Kingdom
- Has had their registration confirmed.
What are the timescales?
Starting: June 2025
