Iseoluwa Adejumo is a data analyst and international leadership trainee at Coca-Cola HBC in Lagos. She is also PBE’s 1000th volunteer and was matched with a charity almost instantly through the Data First Aid service.

She supported Welcome to Badminton, a charity that offers sports sessions for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to help support wellbeing. The charity was looking for support with two tasks: combining spreadsheets, and creating a template that allows the charity to store their beneficiary data and supply information easily.

Reflecting on the experience, Iseoluwa said, “What drew me to PBE was that it felt like an opportunity to share my skills and actively be involved in making positive changes happen.

I enjoyed getting to learn about Welcome to Badminton’s work with migrants and as a foreigner living and working in the UK at the time, I felt personally drawn to the project.

Volunteering on this project definitely gave me a sense of fulfilment and elation at being able to give a solution to a pressing issue.

It was also an eye-opener to the fact that volunteering does not always have to be a grand gesture but with a few hours a week, from the comfort of your home you can make a difference.

Overall I had a great experience throughout the project with adequate support from the PBE team ranging from setting up introductory calls, regular check-ins and spelling out clear expectations.

My biggest thanks to Nadine and Ruth for this amazing opportunity. I definitely would take up another volunteering project with PBE!”
