Women in Charities Report Launch
The charity sector is vitally important for women. The sector provides women with essential support and services, covering a wide array of needs at every stage of their adult lives – from services to community building to advocacy. The sector also provides women with employment and volunteer opportunities and gives female leaders opportunities to build solutions to complex problems faced by their communities.
However, the sector is far from a panacea for women. The prejudices, misogyny and sexism which affect women at work and women in leadership across all sectors of the economy exist in the charity sector too. Women-specific charities are also chronically underfunded and experience specific challenges.
A new report from Pro Bono Economics examines the status quo for women in the charity sector. This event brought together key stakeholders in the sector to reflect on the key findings of the report and to discuss how the sector can become a better place for women to thrive in work, volunteer roles and leadership positions.
PBE runs on funds generously donated by our supporters, without whom, our work would not be possible.
If you would like to be part of our work and help us continue offering services to small charities doing vital work in their communities, please consider making a donation through the link below.
