What’s the opportunity?

The Godwin Lawson Foundation is a charity commemorating the life of Godwin Lawson and aims to educate young people for a tolerant society. It offers personal development, educational, and sporting activities to boost self-esteem and promote team spirit.

The Foundation works to reduce knife crime and help youth make positive choices through projects like early intervention workshops in schools and a six-month mentoring program focused on healthy relationships and safety.

It collects data including demographics, session logs, and impact assessments for approx. 60 mentees for each year of the mentoring programme, which they must report on quarterly to their board and funders. Currently this data is taken from the organisation’s CRM, Salesforce then exported to multiple spreadsheets.

What do we need from a volunteer?

Godwin Lawson Foundation would like volunteer support to organise and visualise the data to demonstrate the key metrics from their mentoring programme and facilitate efficient quarterly reporting to funders.

  • Clean and analyse the mentoring data for two years of data stored in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Create an automated Excel dashboard to visualize key metrics such as demographics, ethnicity, and age groups.
  • Provide guidance and training on the usage of the created dashboard.
  • Advise the organisation on efficient data organisation and storage to support future reporting.

The ideal volunteer has:

  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
  • Experience in creating dashboards and visualisations
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the organisation.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce would be advantageous
  • Had their registration confirmed.

What are the timescales?

Starting: June 2025

Deadline: We anticipate this to be approximately 3-5 days of volunteer work over 1-2 months.
