Coach Core Foundation is a UK charity that empowers underrepresented young people through inclusive sports apprenticeships, combining education, mentoring, and employment support to break down barriers to opportunity.
Working nationwide with mainly small and medium-sized employer partners (SMEs) in sport, leisure, and community organisations, as well as national bodies like England Boxing and Snow Camps, Coach Core delivers tailored training and one-to-one guidance that helps apprentices build skills, confidence, and sustainable careers while enriching their local communities.
Coach Core is committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within apprenticeship provision. It regularly monitors participation and outcomes across their strategic priority areas: gender, socio-economic status, ethnicity and additional learning needs to ensure their policies and programmes deliver fair opportunities for all learners.
CCF currently hold benchmarking data for these categories at a national level. However, to strengthen their evidence base and guide future strategy, they now need to expand their analysis to include regional benchmarks that consider:
- Age group: 16–24-year-olds
- Geographical region/area
- Apprenticeship levels: Level 2 and Level 3
This deeper analysis will enable them to identify local and regional disparities, measure progress against relevant benchmarks, and target support more effectively.
What do we need from a volunteer?
The organisation needs volunteer support to:
- Conduct desk-based research using ONS data to provide regional benchmarks that take into consideration the age group and apprenticeship level.
- Compare the current programme data (held in Excel and separated by Coach Core regions) against these benchmarks and produce a report summarising findings.
Key Deliverables:
- Regional benchmark dataset based on ONS data.
- Comparative analysis of Coach Core programme data against regional benchmarks.
- A concise report highlighting disparities, trends, and recommendations for future strategy.
- A spreadsheet template or other method to allow the organisation to carry out future benchmarking exercises like this.
The ideal volunteer is:
- Strong data analysis and Excel skills.
- Familiarity with government datasets (ONS or similar).
- Ability to present findings clearly in written and visual formats.
- Be based in the United Kingdom.
- Have had your registration confirmed.
