Action Cerebral Palsy (ACP) is a UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people with cerebral palsy (CP). It works to raise awareness of the issues faced by these individuals and strive to ensure they have access to the best possible intervention, care, education, and support to meet their complex and changing needs. The charity provides practical information on care, education, legislation, financial support, and real-life stories for parents at every stage of their journey. ACP also offer resources and support materials for healthcare and educational professionals to help them better support children with cerebral palsy and their families
What do we need from a volunteer?
Action Cerebral Palsy has identified a need for further research into and to quantify the cost the potential loss in income, pension and tax from young people with CP not being able to access work as they transition into adulthood.
The organisation would like volunteer support to:
- Quantify the potential loss in income, pension, and tax for young adults (age 19–25) with CP who are unable to access work.
- Compare these figures to those of non-disabled young adults (age 19–25).
- Compare these figures to those of other disabled young adult groups (age 19-25) (Optional dependent on capacity).
- Conduct a similar analysis to those carried out by PBE on the dyslexia pay gap or improving employment prospects for autistic people.
- Consider the specific nuances of the CP cohort in the calculations.
Deliverables
- A short briefing or report demonstrating potential loss in income for young people with CP.
The ideal volunteer is:
- Experienced with economic modelling and analysis as well as comparative analysis
- Experienced with clear and concise report writing
- Knowledge of relevant data sources
- Based in the United Kingdom
- Registered and confirmed as a PBE volunteer
